I was at Netarhat between 1987-91 in Saket Asharm (Roll 285). Our housemaster was Sri AK Sinha (Chemistry). I completed my BA in Psychology from BHU (was recipient of Govt. of India Merit Scholarship) and then moved to DU for my masters. Following that I went to NIMHANS, Bangalore to train as a clinical psychologist where I met my wife Tina, who had come to do her MD in Psychiatry at NIMHANS. Subsequent to that I did my PhD from Bangalore and came to the UK for my Postdoctoral fellowship in 2005. It had been quite a journey in the UK. Initially we lived in Cambridge where my wife was doing her SHO in Psychiatry and then moved to Oxford for her higher training.

We moved to Worcestershire briefly with our jobs and then moved back to Oxford again when I got another Postdoctoral and stipendiary lectureship at Oxford University. Currently I am working at Oxford Brookes University as a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience in Psychology department and Tina as Consultant Psychiatrist at Oxford Health. As being an academician, my role is to teach and do research. My research focuses on understanding brain processes in health and disease. We have got two wonderful children (Daughter Ira- 8 years old and Son Avi ,1.5 Years old (correct at April 2018)). May be it was Hat’s inculcation of service that Tina and I started providing free psychiatric consolations in Sheikhpura District, when we visit our village and this has been going on for over 10 years now. In my spare time I like to run (again Netarhat’s focus on sports and cross country has been instrumental in that) and have done few full and half marathons and preparing for my next London Marathon on 22nd April 2018.

When I look back at my journey in life so far, I can see cause for satisfaction. Not because I achieved all I could have done but because I have been able to follow broadly and to a large extent the fundamental principles of what I learnt from my incredible teachers in our alma mater.

I entered Netarhat in November 1968 and came out after passing my I Sc exam in June 1975. Twists of fortune saw me in Patna Medical College, from where I passed out in 1983. Got a job in Bihar government, did my MS in 1986 and carried on till 2004 when I got a chance to come to UK. With the active indulgence and support of my NOBA brothers, both elder and younger, I could find my feet in UK and have now settled down in Derby where I have been working as a General Practitioner since 2011.

I eagerly look forward to carry on doing my bit to make our fledgling organisation an elegant and shining beacon for ourselves and for the larger society.

I joined Netarhat in 2006 and I look back fondly at the time spent there. In Netarhat, I especially excelled in sports, participated in almost all the events I can think of, which helped me in building a strong camaraderie - I consider these as some of the best years of my life.

I graduated from IIT Madras (Integrated Masters in Humanities and Social Sciences) and moved to London in early 2021 to pursue MSc in Development Studies at SOAS University of London. I am planning to stay in London for the next few years to work and continue my further studies.

My hobbies include Saturday park run, reading, and volunteering with local community organisations.
