The senior most member present on the occasion, Dr Sushil Chandra Thakur was unanimously chosen as our first President and he enjoyed the privilege of cutting the celebratory cake.
A thrilling high point of the meeting was the ‘Vande he Sundar Mam Sakha Netarhat Sada’ school song sung by us in almost perfect unison.
We had some serious discussions after that and a few decisions were taken and suggestions made:
1. A suggestion was made by Dr Pradeep Kumar to request Shri Prabhat Ranjan, webmaster for NOBA.ORG website to add NOBA UK chapter to the parent website and Shri Vedvyas and Mr OmPrakash Chaudhary were requested to liaise with him to execute the plan.
Dr Pradeep Kumar very promptly informed us the very next morning that he had already got a positive response from Prabhat regarding this plan and this will be followed up in the coming months.
2. It was agreed that Dr Manohar Thakur and Dr Pradeep Kumar will jointly explore ways of opening a Community Savings Account /Any other suitable account, into which NOBA UK members will pay £5/- only per month as a Standing Instruction to their respective banks. Some members thought an annual contribution of £60/- only would be better.
These will be sorted out in discussion with different banks to find out the easiest and most profitable choice. Keshav spoke to SBI and found out that the highest rate of interest of 1.5% was available with them but that would need us to register as a charitable organisation. This had been discussed at the meeting and the consensus was against going down this route because of the need for detailed and continuing paperwork.
3. Kaladharji proposed that we open a single email account, eg nobauk@gmail.com with password nobauk so that it is easier to communicate.
The good news is we have now opened an exclusive email group with the email address: nobavandehe@gmail.com
Password: nobavandehesundar
4. Sami proposed very succinctly that we should aim to provide support to one another in three ways, namely:
Emotional
Practical
And
Financial, depending on the individual need and circumstances.
5.Venues and hosts for three future NOBA UK meets were agreed upon:
2015: Dr Anil Jha & Mrs Anita Jha at Hereford
2016: Dr Asha Sinha & Dr Navin Kumar at Southend-on-Sea
2017: Northern group comprising of Sushilji,Kaladharji,KC Pandeyaji,Kameshwarji and JP in the Lake District
The discussions were followed by a delicious Indian style dinner catered by the famous Anoki Restaurant which had the privilege of hosting the Indian Cricket team recently.
Many thanks and kudos to Vibhash for throwing in a lovely cultural evening after that, the highlights of which were a couple of beautiful dances by his daughter Parul, based on Bollywood songs as also an impromptu Antyakshari war between the gentlemen and the ladies. Kameshwarji, Vibhash and and JP from the men’s side and Dr Gayatri, Dr Poonam Jha and Mrs Geeta Choudhary to name a few were the stalwarts of the event.
Most of the participants stayed at the Premier Inn, East Derby and a few seniors stayed at the Mickleover Court Hotel.
Nature conspired with us to give us a bright and crisp sunny next morning where most of us met, had a walk and enjoyed some light packet lunch together.
We kept to time and dispersed promptly by 2:30 PM with happy memories, promises to keep in touch and looking forward to our next meeting at Anilji’s place in Hereford in September 2015.
